Cubic Panoramas

These QuickTimeVR panoramas work only on the Macintosh and Windows. You need to have QuickTime and its plug-in installed into Navigator or Explorer. To get the minimum file size, JPEG has been used for compession, so this impacts the interactivity with occasional hiccups.

The first set of panoramas feature wide fields of view, were captured in San Francisco and Palo Alto in April 1998, and were stitched with software developed by Yalin Xiong, Mark Wheeler and myself. These panoramas are viewed best using QuickTime 4, which can accurately display their wide fields of view.

The second set of panoramas were captured in France in November 1995, and were stitched using Apple Computer's QuickTimeVR Authoring Suite (since supplanted by the easy-to-use QuickTimeVR Authoring Studio).

The pictures below are snapshots of particular views within the panoramas. You can access the interactive 360° panoramas by clicking the appropriate button.

Here's how to interact with the panoramas. Click and drag the mouse to pan and tilt the view. Depress the shift and control keys to zoom in or zoom out, respectively.
